The Present Tense is used for 3 main categories:
Ex: Christmas is on December 25th. I like chocolate. Summer comes after spring.
Ex: I brush my teeth everyday. She swims every summer. You always eat lunch with your friends.
My mom makes my lunch every Monday. My sister puts away her toys.
Ex: Tom loves pasta. We do not like winter. I love the color red.
The only rule?
Ex: She runs, he plays, it smells, she jumps, he laughs, the dog barks, she talks, he listens, it sleeps......
- To talk about a fact (permanent or actual)
Ex: Christmas is on December 25th. I like chocolate. Summer comes after spring.
- To talk about a habit.
Ex: I brush my teeth everyday. She swims every summer. You always eat lunch with your friends.
My mom makes my lunch every Monday. My sister puts away her toys.
- To talk about preferences (likes and dislikes).
Ex: Tom loves pasta. We do not like winter. I love the color red.
The only rule?
- With 3rd person singular (he, she, it) ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS... ADD AN 'S'
Ex: She runs, he plays, it smells, she jumps, he laughs, the dog barks, she talks, he listens, it sleeps......
In grade 4, we try to make a complete sentence when we speak, and when we write.
Examples:
WHO WHAT WHERE WHEN
I run to the swings at recess.
You eat a cake in the cafeteria at lunchtime.
Max sings in his room at bedtime.
My mom made dinner in the kitchen last Saturday.
Kelly lives in Prévost. --
My friend puts his book in his bag at the end of the day.
I go to l'Académie Lafontaine school.
Thomas feeds his horse Maxime.
Lily-Laure puts the dishes in the dishwasher.
